An Island Fairy Tale--"Who's Been Sleeping in My Bed?"

Welcome to my release day!!!

Since I'm on Pacific time and may not be up by the time some of you have to scoot off to work, I'm actually posting this the night before.

Having my first book published is somewhat of a fairy tale for me, so I think that theme is probably appropriate for today.

I originally wrote "Who's" in 2003-04 under the title of "The Storm." Because I was using this Goldilocks theme, I changed the title to "Who's Been Sleeping in My Bed?" after doing a web search and not finding another book by that title. At least, there wasn't one at that time. I found an old movie, but that was it.

This book is loosely based on a real incident that happened to a friend of mine. You can read about it on my book page at Siren publishing. While you're there, you might want to pick up a copy of "Who's" for your very own. ;)

I made a feeble attempt to sell this book to a big publisher, finaled in a contest, and had some agent interest, then my life was interrupted by those kinds of messy personal things that are part of life. I put writing on a back burner for about 3 years. Last fall, I dusted off Who's and submitted to a few epublishers. Siren Publishing offered to publish it within 48 hours of receiving the manuscript.

So that brings us to today. Release day!!! Please join my release party at Siren-Bookstrand's Yahoo Loop. Also if you leave a comment in my blog

Today, starting with this post, or sign up for my newsletter list, you'll be automatically entered in the drawing for the San Juan Island gift bag pictured in the previous post.

The 2nd theme of the day is islands. "Who's" and my next release, "The Dance," are both set in Washington State's San Juan Islands, my all-time favorite place in the world. This sunset scene is how I picture the view from Rosehill Farm in my book.

The first question of the day is: if you had to be stranded on an island with a fairy tale character, who would you choose and why?

Argh! I just went to buy Who's Been Sleeping in My Bed? and it's not available yet. Not so odd, I guess, since it's not even 3 a.m. yet. My only excuse is I've been working a lot of overtime and I am totally loopy (because of the OT, not because I'm naturally loopy. Honest!) Okay, so I'll just have to wait until a civilized hour to pick up a copy. Dang!

If I had to be stranded on a deserted island with a fairytale character, it would have to be The Steadfast Tin Soldier. He loves the Ballerina from afar and defeats horrific challenges to return to her, only to sacrifice himself when she is lost. Yes, it's sad and always tugs at my heartstrings. But barring the fatal end, wouldn't such a loyal and determined man be a wonderful partner to have on a deserted island?

(If I were going to be shallow, I'd say the prince from the Little Mermaid, since he would have to be quite a guy to lure her out of the sea in her quest to win his love.)

Congratulations Jami on your first release
I put it on my tbb list
As to Who
Probably the Beast from Beauty & The Beast
Hes magical, could scare off any wild animals, could hunt for food, and could keep me warm at night with all that fur.

Hurray -- Who's is now in my folder to read.

The kings son in Rapunzel -- a perfect romance where the king's son and Rapunzel didn't care about the obstacles the enchantress put in their way.

The son had lost his eyes, and survived off the land until she came looking for him. Her tears brought his sight back - that scene brings tears to my eyes every time I read it.

In a time where men were the heros and rescued the 'damsel in distress' - they were a team. They helped one another.

It's always been my favorite.

I would like to be stranded with Prince Charming, of course. But Woody of Toy Story would be fun.
I've added Who's Been Sleeping book to my beach bag of books to read on my summer vacation. Can't wait to read.

The Beast is kind and gentle and this is someone who I could use to help me while stranded on an island. He would calm me from my fears, put his strong arms around me to keep me warm.

Major congrats, Jami! I read the first chapter and am heading to Siren next. Very exciting start! I, too, would choose the beast. Talk about your perfect alpha male. :) I'll be heading for one of your favorite places later this month, spending a few days on San Juan Island for a much needed rest...and maybe some inspiration. :)

Congrats on your book Jami!!!!
I would have to choose Jack from Jack and the Beanstalk - he's a quick thinker who relies on his wits to get out of trouble!

But I'd also have to pick the Beast from Beauty and the Beast, because he's so wounded and tortured and has to learn the true meaning of love to save his soul

Jamie, huge congrats on your release! Its been fun being at your party too!! This is going to rock!

Mmmm for me, a fairy tale character to be on the island with, that may be Popeye. LOL I always loved that show even without no captioning when I was young I stuck with it! Caffey

Thanks to everyone who commented. I had every intention of responding to your comments, but unfortunately, life had other ideas today in that name of a 4-legged hooved animal. My horse decided that she needed to be the princess today so I've spent hours with the horseshoer and the vet. Everything is fine now, but it took away from my book release party. Thank you all for joining me.

I'll be announcing the winner soon.

Congratulations!!! And thanks to everyone for joining me.

I'll be giving away another gift bag at Siren's Readers' Party on June 28 and on the release of The Dance on July 10.
